A Thai design student, Ajarn Yossaphon Chanthongjeen, has turned this vision into reality with his initiative, Stand for Strays.
This innovative project transforms old billboards into collapsible shelters for homeless animals. 👏
Chanthongjeen was inspired by the plight of stray animals in Bangkok, where the scorching streets offer little respite.
He envisioned creating safe spaces for these animals using readily available materials.
The solution struck him during his PhD – why not repurpose discarded billboards into sanctuaries?
These billboards, often seen lining urban landscapes, are transformed into foldable shelters.
The panels are placed against walls with hinges at the top, creating cozy canopies that protect animals from harsh weather. 🤗
The bottoms are elevated, with niches for food and water, keeping them off the ground and providing a dry space during floods.
This resourceful design is easily replicated, making it a scalable solution for global adoption.
Cities worldwide can embrace this initiative to address the issue of homeless animals and promote creative waste management. 🐕
