India's first 3d printed post office just opened in Bangalore. 🤯
And, the complete post office was built in just
45 days versus a typical build time of 6-8 months using conventional methods. 🙋
The construction of this post office building was carried out by Larsen & Toubro, while Indian Institute of Technology, Madras provided technical guidance.
The 3D printed post office building will be at Cambridge Layout in the city with a built-up area of 1,021 square feet.
This post office was constructed through 3D concrete printing technology, which is fully automated, wherein a robotic printer deposits the concrete layer-by-layer as per the approved design. 🦾
The special grade concrete hardens quickly to ensure bonding between the layers.
Cost and time savings make 3D concrete printing technology a viable alternative to conventional building practices.
Not to mention all the positives for sustainability:
✅ Reduced raw material utilization.
✅ Lower (if not zero) wastage
✅ Reduces the inventory.
✅ Streamlines the manufacturing process.
