India's First 3D Printed Post Office
the future of sustainable buildings is here.
India's first 3d printed post office just opened in Bangalore. ๐คฏ
And, the complete post office was built in just
45 days versus a typical build time of 6-8 months using conventional methods. ๐
The construction of this post office building was carried out by Larsen & Toubro, while Indian Institute of Technology, Madras provided technical guidance.
The 3D printed post office building will be at Cambridge Layout in the city with a built-up area of 1,021 square feet.
This post office was constructed through 3D concrete printing technology, which is fully automated, wherein a robotic printer deposits the concrete layer-by-layer as per the approved design. ๐ฆพ
The special grade concrete hardens quickly to ensure bonding between the layers.
Cost and time savings make 3D concrete printing technology a viable alternative to conventional building practices.
Not to mention all the positives for sustainability:
โ
Reduced raw material utilization.
โ
Lower (if not zero) wastage
โ
Reduces the inventory.
โ
Streamlines the manufacturing process.
